Pinnacles National Park: A Haven for Condors & Hikers

by Tina Caparella #152563

"Before my husband and I began our full-time RV life, in 2018, we had only visited a handful of national parks in our 25 years of marriage. We have now ventured to 31 parks in the lower 48 states, each one unique and amazing. One park that had eluded us, even as California natives, was Pinnacles National Park. We finally checked it off the list last fall, and it did not disappoint!"

Tina and her husband, John, took in the rock spires and craggy peaks of Pinnacles National Park. The most amazing sight, though, was the California Condor. They make Pinnacle NP their home. By protecting this critical habitat for the near extinct condors, there is a chance to save them. The best (and busiest) time to visit is mid-February through June as the weather is comfortable and wildflowers are glorious. Mid- to late fall is a great time to visit with fewer crowds. Summer is HOT! Be sure to take time to hike some of the 30 miles of hiking trails. You won't be disappointed!

Books for RVers

by Marcella Gauthier #12371

"This latest book from Erik and Jeanne Anderson #129446 is the first in a series of Hershey Pup RV adventures. It teaches children to be curious, to explore and to enjoy the wonders of their environment and the loveliness of the natural world."

Hershey Pup Discovers New England’s State Birds & Flowers

"This book was written by Erik and Jeanne Anderson, fellow Escapees, who have been living, working, and full-time RVing since 2020 when they set out to travel in all 48 lower United States and six Canadian Provinces. Accompanied by their intrepid Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Hershey Pup, they met many fellow RVers and their pups while traveling. Hershey Pup loves people and other dogs and has quite a following among the RVing public, traveling in what he calls his rolling doghouse. He even has his own Facebook page and many Internet connections that you can use to follow what this pup is up to. This true-life adventure, with its charming illustrations, features their trip as they travel through the states of New England. Each state has a state bird and state flower. There are beautiful illustrations of the birds and flowers as he and his human mom and dad discover them."

RV Solar 4: Build a Better Battery Bank

by David Hutchison and Shari Galiardi #161101

"Is a deep cycle battery necessary for my RV solar powered system? The short answer is: yes! But, where to start your journey to find the right battery for your system is another question altogether. There are so many options available, all designed for different types and sizes of systems. If you are new to solar, diving into battery research can seem overwhelming, and we are here to help!"

This is part four in a six-part RV Solar 101 series about designing a system that's right for you. These educators break everything down so you can make informed decisions about the type and size of system you will need for your RV. Missed the first three parts? Take a look in the Nov/Dec 2023, Jan/Feb 2024, and March/April 2024 issues to start your RV solar journey.

Our magazine team is always open to unique and useful articles from the RVing community!

Although member material is considered first priority, non-member material is also reviewed.
