Many Escapees members have chosen to sync up with fellow RVers and create social 'pods' to get through this uncomfortable time. Here, several families who have been camping together on BLM land come together for a socially-distanced evening chat. Photo credit: Marni Pearlman
Birds of a Feather Winter Together

Whether you're hanging in the southern U.S. with fellow snowbirds, finding comfort in the driveways of friends or family around the country, or heading south of the border, we hope you find comfort, friendship, and a good time wherever you go!
To help more Escapees and Xscapers find this kind of kinship and comfort this winter, our event directors have been hard at work. Keep reading to see what's ahead.
Winter Home Base
Three of these Winter Home Base events will be similar to our Escapees Hangouts, hosted by prior Hangouts attendees and hosts! To learn more about these events, including locations and approximate costs, click here.

We’re happy to announce a new event option called Winter Home Base. Just as the name suggests, we’ll be setting up home bases for Escapees members in parks in the most popular winter destination areas, the Southwest, Texas, and Florida. In accordance with our Safer-in-Place guidelines, we want to create a place for our members to ride out the winter months (Nov-Feb) together in a responsible way. We’re limiting the number of attendees to maintain smaller groups which can be properly distanced when together. The stay at any of the parks is a minimum of one month, but we encourage you to stay longer. When you have a good spot and friends, why move?

Winter Home Base will be a relaxed gathering of friends. We’ll plan a few activities during the week where we can safely meet up outside to catch up with one another and have some fun. As always, we want to make sure everyone is having fun while being safe. All CDC and Escapees guidelines will be followed. The rest of the time is yours to work, relax, and find new interests.

We are excited to bring this new idea for a group home base to you! We’re looking forward to seeing friends new and old and spending some quality time with them. We’ll open registration August 20, 2020. Until then, talk with your friends and plan your destination. Winter is starting to look good!

Three of these Winter Home Base events will be similar to our Xscapers Convergences, with time set aside during the day for attendees to work and activities focused on the evening and weekends to allow for working RVers to join the fun! Click here to learn more about where these events are located, what costs to anticpate, and how to secure your spot!
Safer-in-Place Guidance
Although we may not feel like tourists, the communities we visit often do not know us or our lifestyle. As RVers, it is important to understand the impact we can have, both directly and indirectly.

As the country and world starts to find its way forward, we must continue to look out for the safety and wellness of RVers and the larger community. RVers should take care to follow best practices while at home and traveling.

  • Reduce the risk of contracting COVID-19 or passing it on to others by staying in place as much as possible.

  • During travel, minimize your interactions while in transit and follow any state and local travel restrictions in place along your route.

  • Practice social distancing and safety measures in accordance with CDC guidelines and recommendations.

  • Be mindful of the perception of RVers as outsiders during this time.

Not following these regulations can create detrimental problems for all RVers and for the lifestyle we all love and have fought so hard to enjoy. Be sure to follow all regulations and create a good impression. We are the outsiders in the community. For more details on these guidelines, visit our website.
Wintering in Your RV

Winter is an awesome time to boondock. Because of the cold, most boondockers are driven south to warmer temperatures to avoid freezing pipes. Boondocking isn’t to be feared, but there are some things to consider before you venture out “into the wild”.

Winter Camping in the West

The Western U.S. offers so many interesting camping destiations, each unique in their own way, offering very different camping and activity experiences. So, if your RV is pulling you West this winter, maybe this will give you some inspiration for the journey ahead.

Virtual Wednesdays- Rig Tours Part 2
A few weeks ago, we dedicated a Wednesday evening to sharing RV tours from your fellow SKPs. It was SO popular that we decided to do it again!

Join David and Cheryl Goldstein tomorrow as they host a few more tours, this time featuring a custom-built camper van, a recently updated Country Coach Class A, AND a renovated 5th wheel travel trailer.

Early arrivals to the Virtual Wednesday will also hear a bit more about the upcoming Winter Home Base Hangouts and Convergences!

To tune in, head over to the Escapees RV Club Facebook page at 7:00 PM Central time on Wednesday, August 17.

Community Guidelines
Over the past few months, we had to do something which is challenging for an organization built upon community, cancel all planned upcoming club events and gatherings. As we see more and more amended travel restrictions, we understand the desire to resume our travels as much as (safely) possible. However, community gatherings or RV rallies without size restrictions and strict safety protocols in place are not recommended.

Should you choose to host or participate in an event, Escapees members should understand the following information and policies, abiding by CDC and local and state guidelines at a minimum, when hosting or participating in community gatherings or events.
These same guidelines will be in place for our Winter Home Base events.

You will find explanation of these guidelines on Escapees.com.
