From Mathes to Kernodle, Escapade Goes On!

Build the way you want

This year's Escapade was an amazing success, thanks to our Escapade Directors, Jean and Duane Mathes (at right, above).
The time has come for Jean and Duane to pass the torch and set off on their next adventure. They started as assistant directors under Bob and Molly Pinner, then took over in 2017 and have continually improved Escapade year over year with the addition of activities like Kidscapade, an event within Escapade that focuses on entertaining and teaching our youngest members. They also created a space for outdoor entertainment, including the Tuesday Night Gig and Farewell Fiesta, two street festivals that feature live music, local food, and a welcoming environment for conversation, dancing, and unwinding with new and old friends.

We're so excited to share that Rob and Laura Kernodle (at left, above) will be taking the reigns of Escapade for the coming years! Like Jean and Duane, they got a taste of what it looks like to plan Escapade by serving on staff in recent years, launching the First Timers Social, organizing seminars, and more. Both Rob and Laura have explored other Escapees events, too, learning more about what works for each demographic. Their energy, humor, and ambition will continue to shape future Escapades. We're looking forward to next year's Escapade in Rock Springs, Wyoming, which will be the first planned by the Kernodles.

More details on the 2024 Escapade coming soon!
