The November/December 2024 issue is here!

“As I compiled the last magazine issue of this year, I can’t help but reflect on my tenure as editor of Escapees magazine and how the publication has evolved substantially since it’s meager beginning as a five-page newsletter in 1978. So many changes have occurred over the years and many people have played a role in bringing the publication to where it is today.

Change can be challenging; however, without change there can be no progress. Keeping this in mind, I look forward to a continuing evolution for the betterment of the magazine Escapees members have come to know and love.

As we move into the holiday season, I wish everyone safe
and exciting adventures and, most of all, happy holidays!”

-Tammy Johnson, Editor

SKP Stops:

An Off Season Adventure at Kelly Park, Clermont/Orlando, Florida

by Bianca Dumas #145498

"When we think of wintering in central Florida, our minds easily drift to theme parks and shopping, but there are a lot of outdoor activities that are accessible from the Clermont/Orlando area. One of our family’s favorite Florida outings was the day we spent float-tubing on the lazy river at Rock Springs, a natural spring which is part of Kelly Park, near Apopka, Florida.

Want to be out in nature rather than the concrete jungle of Orlando? Find out what it's like to hang out in the cool waters of Rock Springs in Kelly Park. Read all about it starting on page 28.

Full-time RVing to Part-time RVing

By Rene Agredano #103274

"I really admire your adventurous life!”
I hear it often, and each time I have to
laugh and explain: “I love it, but trust
me, it’s not always great!"

Go to page 37 to find out what former full-time RVers had to say to Rene when she asked why they chose to go from full-time to part-time RVing.

All Eyes to the Skies

By Evanne Schmarder #65409

"Bird migration is one of nature’s most captivating phenomena, where millions of birds take to the skies, embarking on long and often perilous travels to escape the harsh winter conditions of their breeding grounds. For beginning birdwatchers and enthusiasts, understanding bird migration, participating in holiday bird counts and using helpful tools can unlock a world of wonder and discovery, no matter where you set up camp."

Beginning on page 41, Evanne Schmarder shares some insightful and educational information about birding. You, too, could become an expert birder!

Message from the Team: Enhance Your RV Experiences

by Joel Holland, CEO, Harvest Hosts

"The Escapees community is already so
rich with tradition, camaraderie and
support, and I look forward to building
on that foundation."

Starting on page 60, read a letter to Escapees Members by Harvest Hosts CEO, Joel Holland. Here he highlights his own travels, why he loves to RV, and his gratitude for a warm welcome into the Escapees RV Club.

Although member material is considered first priority, non-member material is also reviewed. Travel/destinations-type articles are kept to a minimum and generally selected only when the location coincides with an Escapees national event.
